The Tulle Museum, dedicated to Anita Belleschi Grifoni, is located inside the Church of Sant’agostino, built in the 14^th/15^th century. The Museum has in display many embroidered tulle canvas artworks, the so called Ars Panicalensi, wedding veils, christening gowns and dresses, stoles, gloves and table linens with floral designs. A Museum dedicated to an all-female art. In 1930 Anita Belleschi Grifoni took this tradition over, improving and simplifying it at the same time, and introducing more elaborate designs. She was certain of the economic and social potentials this art would have had, that’s why she decided to open an embroidery school and created the Ars Panicalensis trademark, making it known worldwide. The affordable price of these products made it so that the Ars Panicalensis became a symbol of prestige among both the nobility and the middle-class, and many of her clients were members of high society such as the House of Savoy and the Torlonia Princes.
